A Stranger On Earth Wins Two Awards at TINFF@10
Best Editing and Best Child Actor at the 10th Anniversary Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival
September 2026 marks another meaningful chapter in the journey of A Stranger On Earth.
At the 10th Anniversary Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF@10) in Toronto, Canada, the film received two awards:
Best Editing (Canada/USA) — A Stranger On Earth Best Child Actor (Male) — Zander Kaufer, A Stranger On Earth
The recognition comes after the film was officially nominated in multiple categories at TINFF@10.
For an independent film made outside the traditional studio system, these awards represent something particularly meaningful: a recognition of the creative work that happens behind the scenes as well as the performances that bring the story to life.
A Recognition of the Edit
Receiving the award for Best Editing is especially personal.
- A Stranger On Earth was constructed around atmosphere, rhythm, silence, visual symbolism and its characters.
The film’s unusual rhythm and visual language are central to its identity.
As filmmaker Jeremiah Reeves continues to describe the project, A Stranger On Earth grew out of an intensely personal and artistic process—a film concerned with desire, change, identity, family and the things we don’t always understand or can verbalize.
That makes recognition for the editing particularly rewarding.
Celebrating Zander Kaufer
The second award belongs to one of the film’s youngest performers.
Zander Kaufer received the TINFF@10 award for Best Child Actor (Male) for his performance in A Stranger On Earth.
Zander’s character is at the center of the film’s coming-of-age journey. Through his eyes, the mysterious events surrounding his family gradually take on another meaning.
His performance required something very different from simply delivering dialogue. Much of the character’s experience is communicated through observation, reaction, silence and presence.
Seeing that work recognized by the TINFF jury is an exciting moment for the entire cast and crew.
A Film Continuing to Find Its Audience
TINFF@10 represents the latest stop in what has become an ongoing festival journey for A Stranger On Earth.
The film previously received recognition at festivals including the Nyack International Film Festival, where it won Best Feature Film, as well as recognition from the Los Angeles Underground Film Forum. The film has also continued to receive nominations and selections throughout its festival run.
The TINFF recognition is particularly significant because of the festival’s international scope and its position within Canada’s film ecosystem. TINFF’s 2026 festival brought filmmakers and audiences together in Toronto and Brampton for screenings, industry events, networking and its 10th Anniversary Gala Awards.
For A Stranger On Earth, the journey is ultimately about more than collecting awards.
It’s about finding the people who connect with the film.

The people who recognize themselves in its questions about desire, family, identity, change and the strange forces that shape our lives.
