Runtime: 82 Minutes

A story about a young boy’s coming of age, his struggling mother’s psychological state and a mysterious stranger who finds himself in their life.

When a struggling mother named Irene finds a mysterious man shot with glowing arrows of light, she knows her life will change. Her young son must now contend with this stranger’s growing influence, but is he who they want him to be?

When a struggling mother named Irene finds a mysterious man shot with glowing arrows of light, she knows her life will change forever. Hoping that his presence is the answer to her prayers, she brings him into her home, eagerly shaping him into her new lover. But, as the mysterious stranger becomes part of Irene’s family, his strange and unsettling presence begins to challenge the family’s fragile existence.

While forming a bond with Irene’s mute son, the stranger’s true nature is gradually revealed. The young boy’s photography seems to uncannily mirror this change in their lives marked by the man’s supernatural influence. The family must adapt, but the boy’s biological father is increasingly alarmed.

A Stranger on Earth, a narrative feature about Irene’s longing for connection and her son’s struggle to be heard, weaves a narrative about family, being and belonging. The poetic film by Jeremiah Reeves invites the audience into an exploration of desire, identity, and the inevitable nature of change, the change that happens to us all; the change that brings a boy to a man, that reveals the secrets of a boy’s desire, but that a grown man already knows. This is the change that reminds us that all things change, and we change with them.
